Hannah draws on ancient yoga practices — asana and pranayama — along with somatic exercises to awaken full-bodied awareness and aliveness, helping the voice flow freely and with ease. By releasing tension and pain from the locations in the body where we hold onto negative emotions, we build the relaxed strength essential for authentic vocal expression. This holistic approach deepens breath control, resonance, and calm, while also easing performance anxiety. When we sing from the whole body — instead of from the neck up — the voice naturally blooms with richness and confidence.
Danai will show us how to connect with our breath and breathe in a deep way whilst activating our diaphragm in a few easy steps. She will help us relax our vocal chords and gently heal a tired voice. She will lead us into an understanding of our resonance spots on our body and how our voice behaves in different placements, as well as how to improve and manipulate our own sound in order to create the voice we desire. Together we will warm our voices and hone our melodic abilities so that we can sing actual songs from the Mediterranean folk repertoire by the end of our workshop.
